Year Ahead 2020

Greetings for the New Year. A new year is a harbinger of new hopes, new expectations, new events & the prospect of new accomplishments.

Before we begin, let me mark the Major planetary events of 2020 which will set the undertone for any major event or phase that a native will experience during the year -  

1.    Saturn Pluto Conjunction -

This year is marked by the iconic & powerful conjunction of two ‘heavyweights’ of the solar system – Saturn & Pluto. This is a 33 - 38 year cycle (last conjunction was in 1982-83)

History tells us that during such conjunctions the world witnesses global events impacting the world at large. Some of the major events that have occurred during the recent conjunctions are –

·  1914 – Outbreak of World War 1 & ending of the British Empire’s dominance & emergence of USA as a global leader.

·  2019-21 – The world is experiencing effects of a global slowdown with huge amounts of debt.

2.    Saturn entering Aquarius. However, Saturn will turn retrograde and slip back in Capricorn in July and will re-enter Aquarius only in late December.

3.    Jupiter entering Capricorn where it will be for the entire 2020. This movement may be positive for people with Aries, Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn & Pisces rising signs and may prove a bit tough for Gemini, Leo & Aquarius rising signs.

There is a strong earthy element to this month as all personal planets Sun, Mercury, Venus & Mars will be in Virgo for first 15 days. Saturn going Direct again in Capricorn pushing forward plans stuck up due to delays.

Launched in January 2017, the app was initially designed to transform your face image using smiles, hair colour, glasses, beards & tattoos, etc. It became an instant hit but as other viral things soon died down a few days later.

Although an exact date of the launch is not available, but any date after 20^th may be chosen as Sun entered Aquarius – the sign of technology after exiting earthy Capricorn. I have taken 20^th and local noon time at Moscow and restricted my analysis to outer planets only.

At first glance I looked out for Uranus, the planet of technology & innovations. I found him in a tight opposition to Jupiter in Libra. Now, Libra is the sign of people & socializing & Jupiter is the significator of expansion. How apt that an app used for socializing using technology being released during this period..!!

Since its inception, the app has been subjected to controversy regarding its privacy issues. Neptune, the planet of illusion and deception is in conjunction with Ketu - another planet of illusion & deception as per Hindu tradition.

In the past few days, the app has gone viral again thanks to a feature that allows a user to edit a person’s face to appear it younger or older. Uranus has moved in an exact trine to natal Mercury-the primary planet of communication & technology. A lunar eclipse on its natal Pluto also accentuated its fame.   

In the coming days, Uranus will remain in trine to Mercury and the app is bound to attract its share of controversy. In the coming years, as Pluto moves in Aquarius, there will be radical leaps in technology and apps such as FaceApp are bound to be in focus – Love or Hate them.

Birth Details - 12 Dec 1981 @ 12:00 PM, Chandigarh, India.

On 10^th June 2019, as the Indian cricket team was on duty for its world cup campaign, Yuvraj Singh announced his retirement from international cricket bringing an end to 19 years of his cricketing career.

It’s ironic that he chose to announce his retirement during the most iconic ICC tournament – The Cricket World Cup, for his cricket career was defined by 2 ICC tournaments, the 2007 World T20 & 2011 50-over World Cup for which both he was the Player of the Tournament.

A flamboyant left hander middle order batsman and a more than useful left arm spinner, he was easily one of the biggest match winners in limited over cricket that India has ever produced.

Looking at his birth chart (source-www.astro.com), we find a Pisces ascendant , rare for an cricketer,  but with the Sun as the most elevated planet in a day chart in adventure loving Saggitarius conjunct the MC & his cancer Moon in the 5^th house of sports trining his Jupiter & Ascendant degree, it is difficult to imagine his career in some other field than sports.

As a child Yuvraj was fond of roller skating & tennis and was quite good at both. He also won the Under-14 National Roller Skating Championships. His Saggitarius Sun finding an outlet to channelize its fiery energy perfectly.

An Early start –

His ascendant degree is parallel Rigel – a benefic fixed star which promises an early start in life. Lata Mangeshkar & Sachin Tendulkar, to name a few have this star at some prominent position in their birth charts. As he experienced his progressed new Moon in 1995 & Transit Pluto entered his 10^th house, he started his cricket career in Punjab’s U-16 team. An explosive debut and blossoming of talent –

During his debut tournament, the ICC Knock out 2000 at Nairobi, playing only his 2^nd ODI he scored a match winning 84 against Australia. Playing at number 5 after the departure of 3 of India’s greatest batsman, he displayed immense maturity to first wither the stormy pace bowling of Australia & the as the innings progressed, he displayed his full range of talent as their bowlers were spanked all across the park. Transit Uranus was sextile his natal MC & Sun and Progressed Moon at 1 Pisces had entered his Ascendant forming a grand trine to his Jupiter & Moon. The watery Grand trine formation involving 1-5-9 houses propelled him into stardom – The time of the ‘Prince’ had arrived.

2002 Natwest trophy – India played an ODI tri series in England involving England & Sri Lanka. This series was a defining moment in his career. He was passing through a progressed lunation square phase which are a bit difficult to pass but bring major events which shape our life. In the final, he played one of the best innings ever played by an Indian batsman in ODIs. England had scored a mammoth 325 runs & half the side was back for 146 runs, still needing 180 runs in 26 overs – an impossible task in the pre-T20 era. Transit Mars was trining his natal Uranus in the 10^th house & transit Moon was squaring Uranus from 7^th house. Transit Sun in the 5^th house was sextiling to his fortuna placed in the 7^th house. The innings he played displayed the courage & combustible energy of Mars – Uranus perfectly.

Ascendancy to his title: 2007 World T20 -

During 2002 to 2007, he was in & out of the team, as played out his progressed lunation square phase. Although, he could not cement his place in the test side, but he more than made up for this by his performances in ODIs. In 2007, he was made the vice-captain for the inaugural T20 world cup in England. He was entering a progressed lunation gibbous phase. During this phase, a native reaches the top of his performance and is most likely recognised for his work. Immediately after the world cup, his progressed Moon made a square to his natal Jupiter- when he was diagnosed with a deadly form of lung cancer. Although he did make a recovery from it owing to his strong Sun & Ascendant aspected by lord Jupiter and also subsequently played in the Indian team, it was evident to all that he was past his prime.

Announcement of retirement – Passing over the baton.

In 2017, as his progressed Moon was in the last quarter phase, he played his last ODI. Due to fitness issues & loss of form he was dropped from the team. This phase can be isolating and of emotional turmoil. It is a forced reminder that the cycle is nearing the end.    

On 10^th June 2019, he announced his retirement from all international cricket. Curtain had fallen on one of the most iconic players to play the gentleman’s game. Progressed Moon was approaching the balsamic phase. It is described by falling of worlds & structures, leaving us alone & vulnerable. The progressed Moon is approaching to a conjunction to progressed Sun. Life was coming to a full circle.

Way ahead: The Progressed New Moon -

In June 2020, his progressed Moon will enter fiery Saggitarius and his 10^th house. As we have seen in the past, activation of his 10^th house planets have produced many great events in his life. In 2025, he will undergo the progressed new Moon in his 12^th house – philanthropic activities will take centre stage. He may open an hospital for the poor or start some initiative to help the needy. A perfect outlet to his Saggitarius Sun & Cancer Moon.
