Invoking Cosmic Energy...!!!

Dear All,
After a
long time post my earlier article on Shani Sadesati, comes this new blog on ‘Remedial Measures in Astrology’, in
which we will try to understand the following –
a.
Need
for remedial measures.
b.
Planet
Specific remedial measures.
c.
Use
of Gemstones.
d.
Use
of Yantras & Mantras.
e.
Deities
for invoking Planets.
Remedial
Measures or ‘Upayes’ - as they are
called in India are in existence since the origin of occult & astrology. Hinduism
has major celebrations, rituals and yagnas to be performed when the planets
Jupiter & Saturn change signs or pass through particular nakshatras. These
rituals are performed with the idea that the planet being worshipped will
bestow its blessings on the performer & humanity in large.
The use of
Remedial Measures is a controversial subject in itself. Some persons believe
that engaging in remedial measures allows a person to avoid hard lessons that
he is destined to learn in his lifetime. Others believe that we are born on
this Earth to learn & evolve by addressing the problems with which we were
born. Many half baked astrologers bleed their customers about ‘family curses’
which can be lifted only by them – usually for an exorbitant sum or price.
Sadly, these practices are prevalent in India even today.
However, it
is important to note that combinations in our birth chart itself can help the
individual to overcome hardships indicated by the birth chart. An awareness of
a problem or deficiency can lead to two responses. One is to do nothing – the
problem corrects itself by time, but it may also deteriorate further. The
second is to take action & address the problem. This can be direct action
in this world or through occult/spiritual means. Direct action means taking a
loan to repay debt, seeking counselling for a troubled marriage, learning a new
skill or changing food habits for improved health. When persons engage in these
actions, they are engaging the use of specific planets – Guidance involves
Jupiter/Venus, Skill development involves Mercury & Mars is for any
corrective surgery. The planetary influences are present around us all the time
ready to help those who sincerely request such assistance.
Planet Specific Remedies –
a. Saturn –
Saturn is the also called The Great Teacher for it first punishes & then teaches us a lesson. Saturn brings
delays, frustrations, illness, confinement, isolation, depression, failures,
shame.
The most feared &
un-popular Saturn transit is called Sadesati or the seven-and-a-half years of
Saturn which can destroy or reconstruct our lives dramatically. This was the
subject of my previous blog and readers can visit it for more detailed insight
on this topic.
Usually, Saturn transits must simply be endured, however there
are a few measures which seem to work very well for Saturn -
1.Take
some black dahl (lentils), some mustard oil, a small black cloth, some iron
nails. Mix these in a bag with a Saturn Mantra written 108 times. The best time
to prepare this is on a Saturday afternoon one hour before sunset on a waxing
Moon phase. Put the materials in a plastic/paper bag and place it in a river
about an hour before sunset.
2.Worship
God Hanuman by reciting Hanuman Chalisa or having a statue of Hanuman in our
home.
3. Put
a horseshoe, with its ends up, over your door.
4. Offer
oil to Hanuman/Saturn on Saturdays.
However, it is unlikely
that one will experience a smooth ride during a difficult Saturn transit unless
several other specific planetary conditions are met.
b.
Rahu/Ketu –
Many individuals are unaware of the damaging
effects of Rahu-Ketu transits. These shadow planets can cause immense
dissatisfaction especially when passing through angles or over Sun & Moon.
These can cause susceptibility to gossip, black magic, poisons, disease which
is not correctly diagnosed.
A relative of mine has Rahu conjuct Jupiter in
the second house. She is a teacher by profession. Due to this placement of Rahu,
she is not having a fixed job and her work is being gossiped by fellow
colleagues for no fault of hers.
1. Any
kind of protective item – such as a Mirror or Drishti Yantra.
2. Take
some brandy and place it in a glass bottle with puffed/uncooked rice. Put the
bottle in a thick bag and bring it to a four-corner intersection at mid-night
on a New Moon. Smash the bottle and turn around and walk away. Do not look behind you when you walk away.
3. Worship
of Goddess Durga at home or temple. Chant mantras.
c.
Mars –
Mars affliction or Kuja Dosha is another
popular dosha, known for its effect on marriage & married life. This occurs
when the planet Mars is placed in 1st, 2nd, 4th,
7th, 8th or 12th house in our birth horoscope.
There are various combinations & conditions under which it is cancelled. It
can be countered if the individual marries someone with similar dosha. Also it
is not to be taken into account for anyone older than 28 years of age.
A popular remedy for this dosha is to marry a
person to a rock/tree first and then to a human partner.
Other remedies include offering Red Dahl
(lentil) to Kartikeya.
Engaging in Meditation, Yoga, Martial Arts is
also effective to channelize the aggressive Martian energy.
Use of Gemstones -
This is the most commonly used remedial
measures. Astrologers prescribing gemstones should take note of the following –
1.
Never
prescribe a gemstone for a planet whose strengthening can cause adverse effects.
Remember, these are like medicines. If taken without any disease then its effects
will be negative.
A person wanted to wear
a Diamond for showing off his prosperity. He was having a strong Venus
placement in his chart. A learned astrologer advised him against wearing a Diamond,
if at all it should be of a lesser quality & size. But the person did not
pay heed to his advice and purchased a large diamond of a very superior quality
as he had ample financial resources at his command. Within 6 months of wearing,
his marriage was in trouble as he had indulged in illicit activities with his
maid..!!
2.
A
gemstone should be prescribed considering the current Dasha or of Lords of benefic
houses. Strengthening a benefic planet will only add the benefic strength in
the chart.
3.
Natural
malefic are naturally malefic – they do carry some difficulties with them. So if
one adorns Red Coral for Mars he may experience its negative results such as
increased anger & aggressiveness. Strengthening Saturn through Blue Sapphire
can provide increased stability & patience but also added sadness,
isolation & economic distress if badly placed.
4.
If
a planet is placed in the 12th and if the stone is worn for that
planet then it will also accentuate the energy of this house.
I have in
my career, prescribed a Gemstone all but once. This is a lady who has a weak
Mars and required the Martian aggressiveness in her life. A friend of mine has
a strong Venus in his chart and I have advised him against wearing a Diamond citing
the above mentioned example. He has promised to remember this advice all his
life..!!
Yantras –
If gems are
beyond the reach of the common person, then planetary Yantras are also
recommended. These are small copper plates with special number combinations assigned
to each planet. These must be energized and worshipped in order to bestow any
results.
Arise in
morning, have a bath & place the yantra in a bowl of milk or water. Light a
ghee lamp and incense and chant the planet’s mantra 108 times. After this, clan
the yantra and place it in an altar or carry them in your pocket. This ritual
should be done for a couple of months during a waxing moon period.
Dieties for Planetary Rituals –
This is the
simplest method of invoking a planet’s favourable results or to avoid negative
results. Visit a nearby temple and touch the feet of the specific deity. Details
are as under –
a. Sun
- Navgraha/Vishnu
b. Moon
– Shiva or Parvati
c. Mars
– Kartikeya or Hanuman
d. Mercury
– Vishnu, Garuda or Durga
e. Jupiter
– Ganesha or Shiva
f. Venus
– Lakshmi
g. Saturn
– Hanuman, Shani or Shiva
h. Rahu/Ketu
– Durga or Ganesha.
Conclusion –
It can be realised that even a preliminary understanding & undertaking of
remedial measures can add some benefits in our lives. These remedial measures
can be undertaken as per ones beliefs, financial resources & needs for the
same. The responsibility of results in this area requires self-discipline. If
one wishes the bad effects to stay away, one must change his or her thoughts
& behaviour – permanently. Only then he can find eternal happiness & peace in
his life.
